Detroit Lions reveal halftime performer for 2024 Thanksgiving game

The Detroit Lions have revealed the performer for this year’s Thanksgiving Day halftime show during their game against the Chicago Bears.

Shaboozey, a six-time Grammy-nominated artist, will take the stage at Ford Field for the Week 13 matchup.

His real name is Collins Obinna Chibueze, and his stage name comes from the mispronunciations of his last name. Shaboozey gained widespread attention earlier this year with his hit single “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” which samples a track from rapper J-Kwon’s 2004 song.

The song has surpassed one billion streams across digital platforms and made history when Shaboozey became the first Black artist to top both Billboard’s Hot Country Songs and Hot 100 charts simultaneously.

The 29-year-old Virginia native is also featured on Beyoncé’s country album Cowboy Carter, making him the only artist with multiple appearances on the record.

Heading into Week 10 of the 2024 NFL season, the Lions have a 7-1 record.

They will face the Chicago Bears, who are currently 4-4, on Thursday, November 28. The game will kick off at 12:30 p.m., and Shaboozey’s performance will be one of the highlights of the Thanksgiving Day festivities at Ford Field.
