Terrion Arnold Posts Support for Aaron Glenn as He Takes Jets Head Coaching Job

The Detroit Lions are facing more setbacks. After a surprising loss to the Washington Commanders in the 2024 NFL Playoffs’ divisional round, they’ve now lost Aaron Glenn to the New York Jets, who hired him as their head coach, while Ben Johnson left for the Chicago Bears’ head coaching position.

Both Glenn, the Lions’ former defensive coordinator, and Johnson, the former offensive coordinator, were considered prime head coach candidates this offseason. Within a week of their season ending, both found new opportunities.

This creates a challenge for Dan Campbell as he works to rebuild his now-thin coaching staff. While players likely didn’t want to lose Glenn and Johnson, rookie cornerback Terrion Arnold expressed his gratitude for Glenn’s mentorship after the news broke.

“Couldn’t be happier for you coach thanks for everything u taught me in year 1,” Arnold posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Glenn had been Detroit’s defensive coordinator since 2021. Despite only receiving limited head coach interest in the past, his work with the Lions’ struggling defense in 2024 made him a top candidate. After parting ways with Robert Saleh and seeing their defense falter, the Jets are hoping Glenn can turn things around for them.

Arnold worked with Glenn for just one season after being drafted 24th overall in 2024, but the improvement in his play was noticeable. Arnold’s durability was crucial, as he appeared in all 16 games for Detroit, who faced many injuries in their defensive lineup.

Glenn’s departure will certainly affect Detroit, especially Arnold, who had only worked under him in his short NFL career. With Glenn now gone, Campbell will need to act fast to find his replacement.
