BYU Football, Recruiting, Malakai Lee, Top Six…
PROVO, Utah – BYU football is in the running for Hawaii’s top recruit in the 2026 class.
Offensive tackle Malakai Lee revealed his top six schools on Friday. The four-star recruit is the top-ranked player in Hawaii, and his list of finalists includes some of college football’s most prestigious programs.
BYU football makes Top Six for Malakai Lee
Lee, a 6-foot-7, 310-pound athlete from Kamehameha High School in Honolulu, has narrowed his choices to Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Texas, USC, and BYU.
Also noteworthy are the programs that didn’t make Lee’s top six. Arizona, Miami, Nebraska, Oregon, Tennessee, UCF, and Utah all offered scholarships but failed to make the final list.
BYU’s coaching staff visited Lee in Hawaii last month.
Lee has been selected to participate in the 2026 Polynesian Bowl.
Ranked as the 145th overall recruit in the nation for 2026 and the 12th best offensive tackle by the 247Sports Composite rankings, Lee’s impressive credentials stand out.
BYU football is coming off an 11-2 season and a No. 13 final ranking in the 2024 AP Top 25.
The team’s recent on-field success in a major conference and the development of NFL-caliber offensive linemen could be an attractive factor for Lee.
After a 15-year stretch with no offensive linemen drafted (2005-2020), BYU’s offensive line under coach Kalani Sitake has produced NFL talent.
Brady Christensen, Blake Freeland, and Kingsley Suamataia were all drafted in recent years, and Caleb Etienne, a First Team All-Big 12 offensive tackle in 2024, is expected to be drafted this April.
BYU football currently holds three commits for the 2026 class.
