Heroes and goats from the Giants’ defeat to the Lions: Wan’Dale Robinson shines despite the loss
Jahmyr Gibbs is a big play waiting to erupt, and he essentially sealed the outcome with a 69-yard touchdown sprint in overtime. He finished the day with an astonishing 219 rushing yards on only 15 carries — an outrageous 14.6 yards per attempt. Pure speed is a weapon.
The Giants’ defense, meanwhile, repeated a familiar script: late-game leads disappear like a magic act. Under defensive coordinator Shane Bowen, the unit surrendered a massive 494 yards of offense, including a troubling 237 yards on the ground.
Even in defeat, Wan’Dale Robinson delivered a performance worthy of praise. He hauled in nine receptions for a career-best 156 yards, highlighted by a 39-yard flea-flicker touchdown from Jameis Winston. Typically viewed as a possession receiver, Robinson showcased his big-play ability throughout the afternoon.
The Giants allowed just one sack all game — a testament to how well their offensive line protected the quarterback. That lone sack came on their 77th and final offensive snap, courtesy of Aidan Hutchinson, who also recorded six quarterback hits. Still, Winston generally had ample time to operate.
“Sometimes it feels like I’m living in a movie — like what’s happening can’t possibly be real. You know movies aren’t real, so when things get wild, it almost feels unbelievable. But this is real life.”
