Matthew Stafford has been lighting up the field for the Los Angeles Rams this season, but off the field, his wife Kelly is stepping away from the spotlight for a while longer. After putting her podcast The Morning After on hold in October for her mental well-being, she has now revealed that the break will last beyond what she first expected—and the reason is deeply personal.
Kelly’s final episode aired on October 2, when she admitted she needed space to regroup. But in a new three-slide Instagram update shared through the podcast’s account, she opened up about why she isn’t coming back just yet. In her message, she explained that her attention is needed at home more than anywhere else right now.
“I feel this pull to get back to my roots, and to do that, I have to pour into the people I love most,” she wrote. “My husband is in the thick of a wild season, and I want to be fully present for him. I want to be present for my girls. I want to give my whole heart to the people who have always given theirs to me.”
With Matthew navigating a demanding NFL schedule, Kelly said she’s felt a growing urge to focus on her family. She didn’t sugarcoat anything—she spoke directly to her listeners, saying she’s spent a lot of time reflecting on what matters most. She thanked the TMA community for giving her the grace to step away, even reminding fans that the show had humble beginnings four years ago with minimal equipment and no real plan.
Back then, she said, her only goal was to make other moms feel understood—especially in a world where social media often paints a flawless picture of parenthood. That mission, she assured, hasn’t changed.
Even though the podcast has helped her evolve personally and creatively, Kelly said she feels a stronger calling to be home at this point in her life. Her message was heartfelt but confident—she’s choosing family first, and she’s at peace with that choice.
Still, she made it clear that this isn’t the end of The Morning After.
“This isn’t a goodbye… It’s a ‘see y’all later,’” she wrote. “Thank you for letting me grow, change, fall apart, rebuild, and evolve right alongside you. Thank you for loving me through all my versions. I’m excited for whatever the next chapter of TMA becomes someday. And until then… RIUTA.”
So no, the podcast isn’t over—it’s simply paused. And considering her honesty and the loyalty of her listeners, the TMA community will almost certainly welcome her back whenever she decides the time is right. For now, Kelly is focusing her energy on her family while Matthew continues to deliver on the field.
