Body Discovered in Northern Michigan Leaves Key Questions Unresolved in Rebecca Park Case

Mystery deepens in Rebecca Park case as authorities work to confirm identity of body found in Northern Michigan

Authorities say a body discovered in the Manistee National Forest appears to match the description of missing Michigan woman Rebecca Park. Park, who was pregnant at the time of her disappearance, was last seen on Nov. 3 near Cadillac and Boon Township. A volunteer search group ultimately located the remains.

A troubling development in a baffling disappearance

The grim find adds another layer of uncertainty to an already disturbing case. According to her family, the body was discovered only a short distance from where Park’s mother reported seeing her three weeks earlier. Strangely, the area had been searched previously without results.

Wexford County Sheriff Trent Taylor noted that investigators believe the body resembles Park but emphasized that the case is still active.

“It’s a heartbreaking situation for our community,” Taylor said. “We hope this discovery brings some closure as we continue working through the details.”

Family members in court—on unrelated charges

The day after the discovery, two people connected to Park—her unborn child’s father, Richard Falor, and her younger sister, Kimberly Park—appeared in court on charges not tied to her death.

Falor is facing separate drug-related charges. Kimberly Park is accused of lying to law enforcement and tampering with evidence. Neither individual has been charged with homicide, and officials have not linked them to Rebecca’s disappearance or death.

Judge responds to growing media attention

With national coverage intensifying, the presiding judge took steps to limit public exposure during Wednesday’s hearings.

Judge Corey Wiggins addressed the courtroom directly, explaining that he was halting livestreaming of proceedings to protect the defendants’ right to a fair trial.

“The court recognizes the level of attention this case has drawn,” Wiggins said. “It’s our responsibility to ensure the integrity of the judicial process.”

Autopsy still pending; baby not yet found

Investigators have not disclosed a cause of death, and an autopsy had not been completed as of Tuesday. Officials also confirmed that the whereabouts of Park’s unborn child remain unknown, a key factor in the ongoing investigation.

The information released so far stems from official police updates and statements made during a news conference.
