Although the Detroit Lions were rumored to be exploring trade options for their first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, the team ultimately kept the selection and chose Clemson offensive tackle Blake Miller with the No. 17 overall pick in Pittsburgh.

During his collegiate career at Clemson Tigers football, Miller started 54 consecutive games and logged 3,778 offensive snaps, setting a program record. He also made history as the first Clemson offensive lineman in the modern draft era (since 1967) to be selected in the first round.

Shortly after the selection, Lions general manager Brad Holmes explained why the organization believed Miller was worthy of a first-round pick.
