Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs Sends NFL Into Chaos With $20.6M Market Bombshell

The Detroit Lions entered Thursday night at 7–5, needing a major win to strengthen their playoff push. Jahmyr Gibbs delivered exactly that—and more. With a dominant showing against the Dallas Cowboys, the second-year running back not only powered Detroit to a 44–30 victory, but also saw his market value explode to $20.6 million.

Jahmyr Gibbs’ Market Value Jumps to $20.6 Million

According to data from Spotrac, Gibbs’ projected market valuation has skyrocketed.
Spotrac co-founder Michael Ginnitti posted on X that Gibbs’ value has risen to $20.6 million annually, equal to star RB Saquon Barkley’s top-tier APY with the Eagles.

Gibbs is currently playing on his rookie contract—a four-year, $17.8M deal signed in 2023. With his breakout 2025 season, his estimated future salary could be nearly five times higher when extension talks arrive in 2026.

Gibbs Makes NFL History With Three-Touchdown Night

Gibbs was the clear star of Thursday’s win. He sealed the game with a 13-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter—his third score of the game.
His total production:

43 rushing yards on 12 carries

77 receiving yards on 7 receptions

3 total touchdowns

This brings Gibbs to 47 career touchdowns, tying Lions icon Barry Sanders for the most TDs by a player before age 24 within their first three NFL seasons. He has now passed legends like Earl Campbell, Eric Dickerson, and Gale Sayers.

Stat That Hasn’t Been Seen Since 1952

According to ESPN’s Eric Woodyard, Gibbs is now the first Lions player since 1952 to score three rushing touchdowns in three separate games in one season.

The last player to accomplish this was Cloyce Box, who pulled off the feat in three straight games during the 1952 season. Box, a wide receiver, finished that year with:

42 receptions

924 yards

22.0 yards per catch — a franchise record that still stands

How Gibbs Scored His Three TDs vs. Dallas

Gibbs’ touchdowns all came at crucial moments:

  1. 1-yard touchdown run – gave Detroit a 10–7 lead
  2. 10-yard touchdown run – answered a Cowboys scoring drive, pushing the Lions to a 37–27 advantage
  3. 13-yard touchdown run – the dagger score with 2:19 remaining

His playmaking kept Detroit in control all night.

A Dominant 2025 Season Continues

Gibbs is having one of the best seasons of any running back in the league:

1,062 rushing yards

13 rushing touchdowns

3rd in the NFL in rushing yards

2nd in rushing touchdowns

As the Lions fight for playoff positioning, Gibbs’ speed, versatility, and scoring ability remain central to Detroit’s offensive success.
