‘Absurd’ Matthew Stafford’s Wife Kelly Blasts NFL Ahead of Rams-Seahawks Clash

The Los Angeles Rams are preparing for a prime-time NFC Championship showdown against the Seattle Seahawks, but off the field, the NFL’s ticketing process is drawing criticism—this time from the wife of Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Kelly Stafford took to Instagram to vent her frustration after being forced to download a rival team’s app just to purchase tickets for the game, calling the system “absurd.”

“Honestly though… this whole you have to download the other team’s app to get your ticket to the game is getting a little absurd,” Kelly Stafford wrote.

Kelly Stafford Forced to Download Seahawks App to Buy NFC Championship Tickets

In a video shared on her Instagram story, Kelly Stafford showed herself deleting the Chicago Bears app and downloading the Seahawks app to complete the ticket purchase. The process, while common, highlights a growing frustration among traveling NFL fans.

Under the NFL Ticket Network—powered by Ticketmaster—fans often must use official team apps to access tickets. Additional authorized platforms include SeatGeek and Sports Illustrated Tickets, but navigating between apps has become a pain point for many fans.

Ticketing Frustrations Aren’t New for the Stafford Family

This isn’t the first time Kelly Stafford has publicly questioned the NFL’s ticketing practices. During Super Bowl 59, she raised concerns about skyrocketing suite prices at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

Speaking on her The Morning After podcast, Stafford criticized the corporate nature of the Super Bowl experience.

“The Super Bowl has become a big corporation event… Honestly, though, $2.5 million is absolutely absurd. That’s crazy.”

Seahawks Fans Face Their Own Ticket Struggles in Seattle

While Kelly Stafford voiced concerns from the Rams’ side, Seahawks fans are dealing with their own ticketing challenges. With the NFC Championship set to take place in Seattle, demand has surged—sending prices soaring.

In a rare attempt to give fans affordable access, a lottery was held at Tacoma Mall in Washington State. Fans purchased $10 Triple Jackpot scratch-off tickets for a chance to win NFC Championship tickets. The promotion drew hundreds of supporters, many of whom waited in line for hours.

Despite the lottery, ticket prices on major resale platforms ranged from $830 to several thousand dollars as of Monday. That’s a sharp increase from the last time Seattle reached the NFC Championship a decade ago, when tickets averaged around $500.

NFL Ticket Prices Continue to Climb Despite Fan Frustration

While ticketing policies and prices remain a major issue across the league, fan turnout hasn’t slowed—especially during the playoffs. Packed stadiums and energetic crowds continue to play a major role in postseason success, even as accessibility becomes increasingly difficult for average fans.

As Kelly Stafford’s comments once again bring attention to the issue, pressure may continue to mount on the NFL to simplify and modernize its ticketing experience for fans league-wide.
