Professional athletes across Detroit are known for supporting each other, and that camaraderie was on full display Sunday afternoon at Little Caesars Arena.
The Detroit Pistons pulled off an impressive comeback in their playoff series against the Orlando Magic, rallying from a 3–1 deficit to win three straight games. The run was capped with a dominant 116–94 victory in Game 7, sending Detroit to the second round of the playoffs for the first time in 18 years.
Several players from the Detroit Lions were in attendance to watch the decisive matchup, drawing loud cheers from Pistons fans inside the arena.
Lions Players Appear on Big Screen During Game 7
During the third quarter of the Game 7 win, multiple Lions stars were shown on the arena’s big screen, sparking a big reaction from the crowd. Among the players spotted were Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Jahmyr Gibbs.
The Lions’ support for the Pistons throughout the series has been noticeable. Earlier in the matchup, Lions quarterback Jared Goff attended a playoff game, while head coach Dan Campbell was also seen supporting the Pistons during a postseason game last year against the New York Knicks.
Lions Shout Out Cade Cunningham on Social Media
After the Pistons secured a 93–79 Game 6 victory in Orlando, the Lions showed their support for star guard Cade Cunningham with a post on the team’s official account on X (formerly known as Twitter).
“Cade Cunningham,” the post read. “Smooth Operator.”
The nickname references the iconic 1980s song “Smooth Operator” by Sade, which frequently plays inside Little Caesars Arena during Pistons games.
Cunningham delivered a standout performance in Game 6 to keep Detroit’s season alive, finishing with 32 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, four steals, and one block to help force the decisive Game 7.
