Lions defeat Cardinals 20-13 as Jared Goff throws two touchdown passes.

The Lions secured a 20-13 victory over the Cardinals, successfully running out the clock in the final moments after a field goal from Arizona cut their lead.

Jared Goff sealed the win with an 8-yard scramble for a first down.In the third quarter, the Cardinals had several opportunities to narrow the gap but failed to convert crucial plays.

Kyler Murray and the offense were driving early in the quarter when he attempted a deep pass to Marvin Harrison Jr., but the throw fell short and was intercepted by Kerby Joseph in the end zone, marking Murray’s first interception of the season.

Shortly after, Dennis Gardeck intercepted a pass from Goff, giving Arizona promising field position at Detroit’s 33-yard line.

However, the Lions’ defense responded strongly, stopping Murray just short on a fourth-down attempt.

Murray completed 21 of 34 passes for 205 yards, with one touchdown and one interception, while Harrison caught five passes for 64 yards, marking his third touchdown in two games.

The Lions jumped ahead early, scoring on their first offensive possession.

They methodically advanced 70 yards in nine plays, culminating in a 1-yard touchdown run by David Montgomery, who powered through the line.

Arizona quickly answered back, with Murray showcasing his mobility and eventually connecting with Harrison for a 10-yard touchdown, tying the game.

In the second quarter, Goff threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Amon-Ra St. Brown, giving the Lions a 13-7 advantage.

In terms of injuries, the Lions had several players inactive, including safety Ifeatu Melifonwu (ankle) and cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr. (hamstring).

Linebacker Derrick Barnes (knee) left the game in the first half and did not return, while tight end Sam LaPorta was seen limping and left the game multiple times, requiring ice on his right ankle.

For the Cardinals, starting right tackle Kelvin Beachum was out due to a hamstring issue, leading to Jackson Barton making his first start at the position.

Unfortunately, Barton also left in the fourth quarter due to a toe injury and was replaced by Charlie Heck.

Additionally, defensive lineman Justin Jones (triceps) exited early in the second half and did not return, further complicating Arizona’s efforts.
