Detroit Lions Set for Germany Game on November 15, 2026 at Allianz Stadium

The Detroit Lions will return to the NFL’s International Series in 2026, with their overseas matchup in Germany officially scheduled for November 15, 2026. The game will take place at Allianz Arena in Munich, the home stadium of FC Bayern Munich, and will kick off at 9:30 a.m. ET.

Lions Head to Germany for International Showcase

The Lions are among several NFL teams with marketing rights in Germany, making them a natural fit for international games in the region. The matchup adds another chapter to the league’s ongoing push to expand its global footprint through regular-season games held outside the United States.

While the overseas trip adds logistical challenges, head coach Dan Campbell emphasized that the focus remains firmly on performance and preparation rather than distractions.

Dan Campbell Focused on Winning, Not Travel Challenges

Speaking at the NFL owners meetings, Lions head coach Dan Campbell made it clear that the team’s approach to the international game will be rooted in discipline and execution.

Campbell stressed that success in Germany will depend on which team arrives with the most energy and focus, rather than which team adapts best to travel conditions.

Lighthearted “Cruise Ship” Idea Shot Down

Known for his humor and intensity, Campbell joked about unconventional travel ideas, including the possibility of the team traveling to Europe on a cruise ship to help with recovery and preparation.

However, he admitted the idea quickly ran into logistical issues, with staff pointing out the long travel time across the Atlantic. Campbell acknowledged the plan was unlikely, but used it to highlight the creative (and often humorous) discussions that take place behind the scenes.

Lions’ Last International Game

The last time Detroit played outside the United States was in 2015, when the Lions lost 45–10 to the Kansas City Chiefs in London as part of the NFL International Series.

With their 2026 return to Europe, the Lions will look to deliver a stronger performance on the global stage as they continue building toward playoff contention under Campbell’s leadership.
