Ahead of their Week 2 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, the Detroit Lions have promoted wide receivers Tim Patrick and Tom Kennedy from the practice squad to the active roster.
This move is aimed at strengthening the team’s receiver depth due to injury issues. WR Jameson Williams, who has been limited in practice all week due to an ankle injury, is now considered questionable. Additionally, rookie WR Isiah Williams has been ruled out for the game against the Buccaneers.
Kennedy, who was elevated for the Lions’ Week 1 win over the Los Angeles Rams, will contribute again this week. Patrick, who joins the active roster for the first time this season, previously had a notable 2021 with the Denver Broncos, where he caught 53 passes for 734 yards and five touchdowns before suffering ACL and Achilles injuries.
The Lions will face the Buccaneers in a playoff rematch from the previous season.
This game marks their second consecutive contest against a playoff team, following their 26-20 overtime victory against the Rams.
The Buccaneers are coming off a 37-20 win over the Washington Commanders.
The Buccaneers will be missing three starters: defensive tackle Calijah Kancey, safety Antoine Winfield Jr., and right tackle Luke Goedeke.
Starting cornerback Zyon McCollum is questionable after passing concussion protocol from an injury sustained last week.
