Following a crushing defeat at the hands of the New Orleans Saints, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed his deep disappointment.
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones emphasized before the 2024 season that it would be a pivotal year for many within the organization. Following a crushing 44-19 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 2, Jones reiterated that sentiment. While it’s only two games into the season, this defeat could foreshadow the challenges ahead for Dallas.
Jones expressed his deep disappointment, calling the loss “extraordinarily disappointing,” but he remains optimistic that the team can quickly address their mistakes. He believes Dallas will bounce back stronger and improve over time: “We will correct this. We will improve.”
Despite starting strong in Week 1, the Cowboys now have a clear understanding of where they stand. Jones stressed the need for continued improvement as the season progresses, especially heading into the postseason.
The Cowboys’ defense struggled mightily against the Saints, allowing an average of 7.7 yards per play.
Quarterback Derek Carr performed exceptionally well, and Alvin Kamara scored four touchdowns, exposing significant weaknesses on both sides of the ball for Dallas. The team must make significant adjustments if they want to be considered legitimate contenders.
Quarterback Dak Prescott echoed Jones’ sentiments, acknowledging the need for improvement but expressing confidence in the team’s ability to respond: “We’re gonna learn from it… It’s about trusting the process and responding.”
Next, the Cowboys will face the winless Baltimore Ravens, who are also looking to rebound from a tough start.
Both teams will be eager to get back on track, making for a critical and intense matchup in Week 3. It remains to be seen which team will come out on top and start turning their season around.
