Dak Prescott and Dallas Players Surprise Mike McCarthy with a Gift After Cowboys-Steelers Game
Mike McCarthy, the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, received the first game ball of his career on Sunday, marking a special moment after nearly two decades in the NFL.
Following a thrilling 20-17 comeback victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers, McCarthy shared in the postgame press conference that Dak Prescott and the team presented him with the game ball, as reported by Clarence Hill Jr.
” Dak Prescott and the Cowboys honored Mike McCarthy with a game ball after their win against the Steelers,” Hill tweeted.
“McCarthy, who grew up in Pittsburgh, achieved his first victory in his hometown, making it a memorable occasion for him and the team.”
In the final minutes of the game, the Cowboys found themselves trailing by three points after Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth caught a touchdown pass.
However, Dallas mounted a strong response, orchestrating a scoring drive that consumed most of the remaining game clock.
Prescott connected with Jalen Tolbert for a touchdown on a crucial fourth-and-four play, leaving Pittsburgh with only 20 seconds to respond.
Fortunately for the Cowboys, that was insufficient time for a Steelers comeback.
Prescott’s performance was a mix of highs and lows.
He threw for 352 yards and two touchdowns, completing 29 of 42 passes, but he also faced challenges with two interceptions and a lost fumble.
Despite these mistakes, Prescott and the Cowboys stayed focused and resilient, improving their season record to 3-2 after struggling early on with two losses in their first three games.
This game and the recognition from his players added a significant chapter to McCarthy’s coaching journey, making it a memorable night for both him and the
Cowboys.
