Lions Sign Isaiah Thomas from the Practice Squad of the Bengals

Following the loss of star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson to a broken tibia, the Detroit Lions signed a defensive end from the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad.

Detroit added defensive end Isiah Thomas from the Bengals practice squad on Tuesday as they seek to address the gap left by Hutchinson. His production will be difficult to replace, as he was a genuine Defensive Player of the Year contender.

Thomas has not seen game action this season after joining Cincinnati following his first two years with the Cleveland Browns, who drafted him in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He played in a few games with Cleveland in 2022 before spending the entire 2023 season on their practice squad.

In fact, Thomas recorded his only career sack with Cleveland in 2022 when he took down Joe Burrow during what Bengals fans refer to as “The Halloween Massacre.”

Currently, the Bengals have not taken any action in response to Thomas being signed away.
