Discover three essential things we’ve learned about the Cowboys heading into Week 10.
Rico Dowdle is proving himself as the Cowboys’ top running back Before the season, we heard the Cowboys planned to use a committee in the backfield.
But Dowdle had a career-best performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 5, rushing for 87 yards on 20 carries.
Despite this, he received only five carries the next game against Detroit, as Ezekiel Elliott took the lead. Last week against the Falcons, Dowdle was again impressive with 75 yards on 12 carries.
It’s evident Dallas should lean on Dowdle until he needs a break, as Elliott and veteran Dalvin Cook are averaging just 3.1 and 2.5 yards per carry, respectively. Dallas’s rushing attack has struggled, and Dowdle deserves to carry the load for the rest of the season.
Cowboys’ losing streak may continue for several more weeks
After facing the Eagles, the Cowboys have matchups with the Texans and Commanders, teams with six or more wins each and a clear edge over Dallas.
With Cooper Rush expected to start at quarterback for the next month and a half, the struggles of the offensive line, a shaky run game, and a porous defense make it unlikely the Cowboys will secure a win soon.
In short, this season is shaping up to be a disaster with little hope of improvement.
