Lions’ Kevin Zeitler ruled out against the Commanders, who will feature linebacker Bobby Wagner.

Lions guard Kevin Zeitler will not play against the Commanders due to a hamstring injury sustained in the regular-season finale on January 5 against Minnesota.

Additionally, the Lions will be missing defensive lineman Pat O’Connor (calf) and may also be without cornerback Ennis Rakestraw, who is questionable with a hamstring issue and illness.

To replace Zeitler, the Lions are considering rookie Christian Mahogany or Kayode Awosika. Mahogany, a sixth-round draft pick, has played in seven games this season, starting one.

Coach Dan Campbell expressed confidence in the team’s options, stating, “We feel like we’re in good hands.”

Meanwhile, the Commanders are nearly at full strength, with linebacker Bobby Wagner, a six-time All-Pro, set to play despite missing practice earlier in the week due to an ankle injury.

Wagner participated in practice on Thursday and confirmed he is ready, saying, “I’m good,” but declined to provide further details about his injury, emphasizing caution with the Lions monitoring his comments.

Rookie linebacker Jordan Magee is out with a hamstring injury, as coach Dan Quinn anticipated earlier in the week.

Additionally, two special teams players, linebacker Mykal Walker (illness) and rookie tight end Colson Yankoff (hamstring), are questionable.

Quinn confirmed that kicker Zane Gonzalez, who secured the Buccaneers’ win with a game-winning field goal, is fit to play despite dealing with a hip issue earlier in the week.
