The Detroit Lions’ season came to an end in the NFC divisional round this past weekend. While the team fell short of reaching the Super Bowl, they had an incredibly successful regular season, winning a franchise-record 15 games and securing the top record in their conference.
Under offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, Detroit boasted the second-best offense in the NFL, and their defense ranked seventh in scoring, led by defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn. Given the team’s success over the past two years, it’s no surprise both coaches are high on the list for other teams.
Even with a loss to the league’s top rookie, that hasn’t changed, which is why head coach Dan Campbell is bracing for the possibility of losing both. While he hasn’t been officially notified, Campbell is already thinking ahead about replacements. He believes there are coaches on the current staff who can step up, but he’s also open to searching outside the organization for the right person.
“I want to find someone who can keep us as close to what we’ve been as possible,” Campbell explained. “And we won’t lose our identity.”
He further emphasized, “We’re staying true to who we are, and if that doesn’t sit well with you, this isn’t the job for you.”
