In an interview during the 2024 NFL season, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff revealed that he often thinks about his career after football and shared some of his future plans.
“Whenever I’m done, whether that’s a few years or more, I wonder if I’ll be burned out or want to keep going,” he told the Detroit Free Press. “I’ve always said I’d love to help a friend who’s a coach, maybe even a head coach. Not necessarily coaching quarterbacks or anything specific, but just asking, ‘How can I help?’”
“…If I end up coaching my kid in high school, sure, that’d be fun. But if I can assist a close friend who’s a head coach in any way, I’d love to. It might be a remote role, but it all depends on the location.”
While Goff is still in the midst of his NFL career, he’s already considering his next steps. On Friday, news broke that he’s part of an investor group working to bring a WNBA team to Detroit.
“I’m excited to join this incredible group of leaders as we aim to bring a WNBA team to Detroit! This is a huge opportunity for our vibrant community and passionate fans!” he said on his Instagram story.
His wife, Christen, is also involved in the bid, expressing her excitement with the hashtag “LetsBringIt” and a blue heart.
At just 30 years old, Goff has plenty of football ahead, but he’s already planning for life after the game.
