Jared Goff expresses his first impressions of the Detroit Lions’ new offensive coordinator, John Morton.
Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff was named the Pro Bowl’s most valuable offensive player after completing 10 of 11 passes for 126 yards and three touchdowns, helping Eli Manning and the NFC secure their third consecutive win.
During the event, Goff spoke with SiriusXM about his thoughts on the Lions hiring John Morton as their new offensive coordinator.
“We were together in 2022 when he was an assistant on our staff, and he’s done it before. He’s been a coordinator and has a lot of experience in the league, having worked with great coaches,” Goff said. “I’m excited to work with him and see what we can do.”
Goff also discussed Ben Johnson’s departure to become the Chicago Bears’ head coach. Goff had enjoyed some of the best success of his career while working with Johnson.
“He’s a great coach who has made a huge impact on my career. I’m definitely a big fan of his. I was joking with him, saying I wish he didn’t have to be in our division so I wouldn’t have to face him twice a year,” Goff remarked. “But he’s going to do a fantastic job. Hopefully not too great, though, with us being in the same division. Regardless, I’ll always be a fan of his, and our relationship will remain strong.”
Lions Outbid for Jaguars Tight Ends Coach
Detroit still has an opening for their tight ends coach following Steve Heiden’s departure to the New York Jets.
Recently, Detroit reached out to Jacksonville Jaguars tight ends coach Richard Angulo. However, the Jaguars decided to offer Angulo a new multi-year contract extension, keeping him with the team for the foreseeable future.
