BYU Climbs Sharply in the Latest AP Poll Top 25 Rankings

Top 25 Rankings: BYU Soars in Latest AP Poll

Thanks to another perfect week with a key victory, BYU basketball is surging up the rankings.

On an eight-game win streak, BYU basketball is rightfully drawing national attention as this Kevin Young-coached team continues to dominate the Big 12 Conference, maintaining their momentum for four consecutive weeks. With the release of the latest AP Top 25, the Cougars find themselves in a strong position in the broader college basketball scene.

Boasting the second-longest win streak in the Big 12, BYU is leading the charge for teams peaking at the right time. It appears the “Underwhelmers Anonymous” 12-step program midway through the season was the spark these Cougars needed, and now the entire nation is taking notice.

After a modest two-spot jump in the AP Top 25 poll last week (from 25 to 23), BYU seized a chance to make a statement in Hilton Coliseum against 10th-ranked Iowa State. In a thrilling double-overtime battle, the Cougars emerged victorious, showcasing the grit needed for single-elimination tournaments.

This week, consecutive wins against one of the toughest teams in basketball and in-state rival Utah have propelled BYU up the rankings.

Now sitting at 17th in the poll, BYU basketball is well-positioned for a further rise as the Big 12 tournament approaches. If this momentum continues, their surge could carry them deep into the postseason.

Just in time for March Madness, BYU basketball has firmly established itself as a serious contender for a Sweet 16 appearance, with potential to push into the Elite Eight and beyond. Who knows what can unfold when March Madness begins?

The Cougars are climbing fast—keep your eyes on them.
