With the 2024 NFL season nearing its final stretch, only six weeks remain until the playoffs, making the race for playoff spots even more exciting.
On Thanksgiving Day, three key games will take place: the Chicago Bears vs.
Detroit Lions, New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys, and Miami Dolphins vs. Green Bay Packers in the evening matchup.
In the hours leading up to Thanksgiving, NFL legend and FOX analyst Tom Brady shared his list of the top five teams in the league. Brady ranked the teams from No. 5 to No.
1, with the Minnesota Vikings taking the fifth spot, the Philadelphia Eagles fourth, the Buffalo Bills third, and the Kansas City Chiefs second.
However, it was the Detroit Lions who claimed the top spot once again.
“And holding the No. 1 spot once again is the Detroit Lions,” Brady stated. “The Lions are 10-1 for the first time since 1934.”
Brady confidently selected the Lions as the NFL’s best team, a choice he made after Week 12 as well.
While the Lions’ dynamic duo of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs is difficult to stop, Brady also gave credit to defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and the team’s defense.
“I’ve got to show love to Aaron Glenn and that Lions defense,” Brady remarked. “They’ve gone 10 quarters without allowing a touchdown.”
The Lions’ defense has been exceptional, ranking second in the NFL in points allowed with just 16.6 per game.
They haven’t allowed a touchdown since the second quarter of their Week 10 game against the Houston Texans.
Over the past two weeks, the Lions gave up only 12 total points to the Jacksonville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts.
They now face the struggling Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving Day.
Though the Lions have tough games ahead against the Green Bay Packers, Bills, Vikings, and 49ers, they have only one loss this season, a close defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2.
With their impressive performance so far, the Lions are shaping up to be a strong Super Bowl contender as they approach the playoffs.
