Myles Adams, the former Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman, has signed with a new team and is heading to the NFC’s top contender. The injury-depleted Detroit Lions added Adams to their roster from the Seahawks practice squad on Saturday. Once a player is signed from another team’s practice squad, they must be placed on the active roster, so Adams will remain with Detroit for the time being.
To provide some context: Seattle waived Adams from the active roster after they claimed former Los Angeles Chargers safety A.J. Finley. After clearing waivers, Adams was signed to the practice squad, with Seattle releasing defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna in the process. The move was relatively low-key due to the timing, happening on Thanksgiving.
Detroit, boasting an 11-1 record and a 10-game winning streak, is dealing with a growing number of defensive injuries. Following a leg injury to star pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson in October, the Lions’ defense has seen more setbacks.
Linebacker Alex Anzalone is sidelined for several more weeks with a forearm fracture, linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez suffered a season-ending ACL tear, defensive tackle Mekhi Wingo is out for the year due to a knee injury, and defensive linemen Levi Onwuzurike and Josh Paschal are unlikely to suit up next Thursday against Green Bay.
Due to these injuries, the Lions have signed three players from other teams’ practice squads, including Adams, linebacker Kwon Alexander from the Denver Broncos, and defensive lineman Jonah Williams from the Los Angeles Rams.
Adams has been with Seattle in various roles since 2020, frequently moving between the active roster and the practice squad. In 26 career games, he has registered 30 tackles, 3 quarterback hits, 1 pass defensed, and 1 sack. Given the current state of Detroit’s defense, Adams may see significant playing time in the near future.
With Adams now gone, the Seahawks have an open spot on their practice squad.
