Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell is known for his high-energy postgame speeches in the locker room. However, following the Thanksgiving Day win over the Chicago Bears, Campbell surprised many with a more subdued approach.
That was not the case after Thursday night’s thrilling 34-31 victory over the Green Bay Packers. The win secured the Lions a playoff berth and extended their incredible winning streak to 11 games. Now sitting at 12-1, Detroit is in prime position to clinch the NFC North title as they head into a well-earned “mini bye” before facing the Buffalo Bills at Ford Field on Dec. 15.
For fans and content creators alike, Campbell’s return to his usual fiery form was a treat. And thanks to Prime Video’s immediate postgame coverage, we didn’t have to wait for the Lions’ social media team to share the action.
In typical fashion, Campbell poured his heart out to his team in the locker room, delivering an impassioned speech. “I’m so freakin’ proud of you, man,” Campbell exclaimed.
“That’s the way to show up. You talk about pressure; we live in pressure. That’s where we freakin’ thrive. You did it again.”
The Lions’ defense featured significant contributions from four players who weren’t on the roster a week ago, including Mitchell Agude, who was elevated from the practice squad for the first time this season. Campbell highlighted their impact in his speech, praising the team’s resilience.
“It doesn’t matter who’s playing for us, it doesn’t matter what’s going on, you always find a way to win,”
he said. “This has been in the making, man. This has been in the making. We were all supposed to be here together. We’re destined for this. Just stay the course.”
Campbell’s postgame speeches are always memorable, but Thursday night’s version was delivered with even more intensity. The importance of sweeping a division rival like the Packers clearly resonated with him, and his enthusiasm was on full display.
With their sights set firmly on the postseason, the Lions seem to be feeding off their coach’s relentless energy. And as Campbell would say, they’re thriving under pressure.
