A Transformation Decades in the Making

For much of their history, the Detroit Lions were a team synonymous with playoff droughts and near-misses. The franchise’s last NFL championship came in 1957, and in the 75 years since, they managed just 13 playoff games, with only one victory—a 38-6 dismantling of the Dallas Cowboys in 1991.

Last season, however, marked the beginning of a new era. The Lions shocked the league by defeating the Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the playoffs, only to fall agonizingly short in the NFC Championship against the San Francisco 49ers. Despite leading 24-7 at halftime, they succumbed to a 34-31 defeat.

This year, the Lions have built on their resurgence with an incredible 12-1 record, including a thrilling 34-31 victory over the Green Bay Packers. The win secured their second consecutive playoff berth, something they hadn’t achieved since 1995.

A Relentless Focus on the Ultimate Prize

Head coach Dan Campbell has made it clear: simply making the playoffs is no longer enough for Detroit. After the win against the Packers, Campbell admitted he hadn’t realized the team had clinched a postseason spot.
