Detroit Lions

Bills vs. Lions and Steelers vs. Eagles Serve as NFL’s Strongest Week 15 Pair Since 1985

On Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET, two of the NFL’s most exciting matchups will take place.

The 10-3 Buffalo Bills will face the 12-1 Detroit Lions in Detroit, while the 10-3

Pittsburgh Steelers will battle the 11-2 Philadelphia Eagles in Philadelphia.

These games present a rare opportunity for fans to witness two high-stakes, late-season contests featuring teams with impressive records.

This is a notable rarity in the NFL, as it’s been nearly four decades since the league featured two games with double-digit win teams in Week 15 or earlier.

The last instance of this was in 1985, when Week 15 showcased the 13-1 Chicago Bears defeating the 10-4 New York Jets and the 10-4 Miami Dolphins beating the 10-4 New England Patriots.

While Bills-Lions and Steelers-Eagles promise to deliver intense, playoff-impacting action, the unfortunate scheduling means fans will have to choose between them or watch on multiple screens.

Bills-Lions airs on CBS and Steelers-Eagles on Fox, leaving little chance to focus on both games fully. Ideally, one of these matchups could have been scheduled for prime time to maximize fan attention.

With playoff implications in both conferences, these games could also serve as a preview of a potential Super Bowl matchup, making them among the most exciting and meaningful games of the season.
