According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, free-agent wide receiver Scotty Miller is currently visiting the Lions in Detroit and is also scheduled to travel to Chicago for a workout with the Bears next week.

Schefter shared the update on social media, noting that Miller’s visit with Detroit is part of the team’s ongoing evaluation of veteran talent following the draft.

Who Is Scotty Miller?

Miller originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2019 NFL Draft after playing college football at Bowling Green State University.

During his four seasons in Tampa Bay, Miller developed into a speedy deep-threat option. His most productive campaign came in 2020, when he recorded 33 receptions for 501 yards and three touchdowns. That same season, Miller was part of the Buccaneers roster that captured the Super Bowl LV championship.

Following his stint in Tampa Bay, Miller joined the Atlanta Falcons during the 2023 offseason. However, his role there was limited mostly to special teams duties.

Over the past two seasons, Miller has played with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he totaled 14 receptions while contributing on special teams.

Why the Lions and Bears Are Interested

Although Miller is not expected to step in as a starting wide receiver, the 28-year-old still offers valuable speed and experience. His ability to contribute on special teams as a returner or gunner could make him an appealing depth option.

Both Detroit and Chicago may view Miller as a low-risk addition who can compete for a roster spot during training camp while providing veteran leadership and championship experience to the offense.

If signed, Miller would join a competitive wide receiver group as both teams continue to finalize their rosters ahead of offseason workouts and training camp.
