Jerry Jones expresses his anger following the Cowboys’ defeat to the Lions: “I’ll find someone else to ask these questions!”

The Dallas Cowboys owner expresses frustration during a heated radio interview following a rough start to the season.

Tensions are escalating within the Dallas Cowboys’ organization. With a 3-3 record, three home losses, and a devastating 47-9 defeat to the Detroit Lions, owner Jerry Jones has hit his limit. In a fiery interview, Jones confronted two radio hosts, leaving fans speculating about potential major changes ahead.

While the Cowboys still have a chance at the playoffs, critics are drawing parallels to the 2010 season when Jones fired head coach Wade Phillips after a 1-7 start.

Despite increasing pressure from fans and analysts, Jones asserted that head coach Mike McCarthy’s job is not at immediate risk. “I haven’t considered that, and I’m not considering that hypothetical,” Jones declared. “Just so we’re clear, I’m not considering it.”

When pressed further, Jones reacted sharply. “Do you think I’m an idiot? OK then, I’m not going to entertain hypotheticals about a coaching change or timing. I’m not at all.”

Jones threatens to dismiss two radio hosts during the interview

Jones’ frustration peaked during his weekly spot on 105.3 The Fan. Annoyed by inquiries about the Cowboys’ free-agency missteps—losing key players without replacements—Jones engaged in a tense exchange with hosts Shan Shariff and RJ Choppy.

“Your job isn’t to let me explain why I did something and apologize for it. That’s not your job,” Jones retorted to Shariff. In a surprising moment, the Cowboys owner asserted, “I’ll find someone else to ask these questions. I’m not joking.”

When the hosts continued pressing for what went wrong, Jones responded: “You really think you can sit there with a microphone and list everything I did wrong without mentioning the rights? You must be smoking something over there this morning.”

A rare apology from Jones

Amid the turmoil, Jones took a moment to apologize to Cowboys fans for the Lions blowout. “I’m very sorry for what happened out there Sunday. I’m sick about it.”

He acknowledged that the team was physically overmatched and expressed disbelief at the offense’s performance. “I never thought we wouldn’t be able to move the ball on those guys. But we got pushed around. They had a great time at our expense, and that was frustrating.”

Despite the upheaval, Jones ruled out any drastic changes during the team’s bye week. He conveyed confidence that the Cowboys would recover in Week 8 when they take on the defending NFC champions, the San Francisco 49ers.
