Steelers Depot Daily Segment
A quick round-up of Pittsburgh Steelers-related stories that may not require a full article but are worth noting and sharing with you.
LIONS SIGN KWON ALEXANDER
This season, the Steelers’ linebacker group has been impressive. Patrick Queen and Payton Wilson have brought needed athleticism to the position. However, Pittsburgh did attempt to strengthen the group last year, with Cole Holcomb and Kwon Alexander adding stability, though injuries cut both players’ seasons short. Now, Alexander may be on his way to a title.
According to Around the NFL on Twitter, the Detroit Lions have signed Alexander from the Denver Broncos’ practice squad to their active roster. Alexander had seen limited action with the Broncos, and the Lions, currently 11-1 and Super Bowl contenders, clearly noticed his abilities. It’s a great landing spot for Alexander.
FREIERMUTH JOKES WITH WILSON
Today marks Russell Wilson’s 36th birthday. Although Wilson has been playing with renewed energy lately, Pat Freiermuth didn’t let the occasion pass without teasing him a bit.
On his Instagram, Freiermuth playfully called Wilson an “old man,” echoing the kind of lighthearted teasing Cam Heyward once directed at DeAngelo Williams when he was with the Steelers. It’s clear the two share a fun rapport.
Thanksgiving has just passed, and the Christmas season is quickly approaching. Hopefully, the Steelers can close out Thanksgiving with a win this season. Regardless of their performance on the field, they’ve been setting a good example off it this week.
Steelers Community Relations recently shared a video on Twitter showcasing the team’s efforts to help those in need during Thanksgiving. While we’ve highlighted some of these events, it’s always nice to shine a light on their community work. As the holidays near, it’s a good reminder of what truly matters.
