Detroit Lions

Injury updates from Dan Campbell highlight the status of Lions’ players, including Aidan Hutchinson.

The Detroit Lions (12-1) emerged from their mini-bye feeling more optimistic about several injuries, though head coach Dan Campbell cautioned that clearer updates will come as practice progresses.

Left tackle Taylor Decker and four key defensive linemen remain under watch.

“Everyone is trending positively,” Campbell said. “We’re in a better place than last week. I don’t know how many guys we’ll get back, and I might not know until Thursday.

I feel better about Decker, but we’ll see. As for the D-line, it’s fluid. Levi (Onwuzurike) might return, and (Alim McNeill) Mac is still in protocol but hasn’t regressed. It’s just a waiting game.”

DJ Reader (shoulder) and Josh Paschal (knee) remain uncertain heading into this week’s matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

Meanwhile, defensive backs Ennis Rakestraw (hamstring) and Ifeatu Melifonwu (finger) are nearing the end of their four-week recovery window, with decisions coming soon.

For veterans like receiver/returner Kalif Raymond (foot) and linebackers Alex Anzalone (forearm) and Jalen Reeves-Maybin (neck), timelines remain unclear.

“We expect Alex back late in the season—possibly the final game or playoffs,” Campbell shared. “Kalif is likely on the same track. Jalen is improving, but it’s slow. He might return in a few weeks or not at all.”

Campbell also addressed edge defender Aidan Hutchinson’s status after his Week 5 broken tibia and fibula. Hutchinson has been seen at Ford Field but remains a long shot for a return this season.

“This injury is tough,” Campbell said. “I haven’t changed my stance—it’s severe. But knowing Aidan, I’d never count him out.

He’s working hard and progressing, but I can’t set a timeline. If anyone could make it back, it’s him.”
