Kelly Stafford, the wife of Matthew Stafford, recently opened up about why she stepped away from hosting her podcast, “The Morning After,” while also speaking out about what she considers disrespectful treatment toward her husband.

In a message shared on Instagram, Kelly revealed that she decided to pause the podcast to focus more on her family. She explained that she felt a strong pull to return to her roots and spend more time supporting her husband during a demanding NFL season, while also being more present for their daughters.

“I feel this pull to get back to my roots, and to do that, I have to pour into the people I love most,” Kelly wrote. “I’ve got a husband in the middle of one hell of a season, and I want to be fully locked in with him. I want to be present for my girls. I want to give my whole heart to the people who have always given theirs to me.”

Kelly also admitted that the weekly pressure surrounding the podcast became overwhelming. In a video shared on her Instagram Story, she said the anxiety she felt before each episode was released became difficult to manage.

“What I don’t miss is the anxiety I used to get the night before every episode was released, wondering what headline was going to be created from the episode,” she explained. “It just felt like my name was in the headlines every week, and that is not what I wanted this podcast for. So that is a big reason why I took a break. I needed a mental break.”

Although she has stepped away from the podcast, Kelly is still making headlines after defending her husband. She recently criticized what she called “highly disrespectful” treatment toward the veteran quarterback.

Kelly pointed out that many fans, media members, and even people within football often refer to her husband as “Matt” instead of his preferred name, “Matthew.”

“When people don’t know him, they call him Matt,” Kelly wrote. “What gets me is that he’s been playing in the league now for close to two decades and people who have jobs reporting on it still call him Matt. I find it highly disrespectful, but honestly it kind of goes along with Matthew’s whole career.”

While some might see the shortened name as harmless, Kelly believes it reflects a broader pattern of how the longtime NFL quarterback has been treated throughout his career.

Matthew Stafford has spent nearly two decades in the NFL, building a reputation as one of the league’s most durable and respected quarterbacks. Despite that longevity, Kelly’s comments suggest she feels he still doesn’t always receive the level of respect he deserves.
