The Detroit Lions Add Skyler Gill-Howard and Tyre West as Contract Details Emerge
The Detroit Lions continue to lock in members of their 2026 rookie class as preparations for training camp move forward.
According to NFL insider Aaron Wilson, Detroit has officially signed sixth-round draft pick Skyler Gill-Howard and seventh-round selection Tyre West to their rookie contracts following the 2026 NFL Draft.
Skyler Gill-Howard Contract Details
Skyler Gill-Howard has reportedly agreed to a four-year rookie contract worth approximately $4.643 million. The deal includes a signing bonus of around $263,292, according to Wilson.
Gill-Howard was selected by the Detroit Lions in the sixth round after building a strong reputation during his college career with the Texas Tech Red Raiders football program. Known for his physical style of play, the defensive tackle earned recognition as a tough interior defender capable of helping stop the run.
Detroit is expected to give Gill-Howard the chance to compete for rotational depth on the interior defensive line during training camp as he begins his NFL career.
Tyre West Contract Details
The Detroit Lions have also finalized a rookie contract with edge rusher Tyre West.
Wilson reported that West signed a four-year contract worth approximately $4.547 million, which includes a signing bonus of about $167,292.
West was selected in the seventh round of the draft after playing college football for the Tennessee Volunteers football. He now joins Detroit as a developmental pass-rushing option and will look to carve out a role along the team’s defensive front.
Lions Nearly Done Signing 2026 Rookie Class
Under general manager Brad Holmes, the Detroit Lions have moved quickly to sign their draft picks shortly after the conclusion of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Detroit has already secured rookie contracts with several other members of its draft class, including Derrick Moore, Jimmy Rolder, Keith Abney, and Kendrick Law.
By completing these deals early, the organization ensures its rookies can focus fully on football activities and development well before training camp begins.
